Turkey’s Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay says the country will share its experience in the tourism sphere with Iran.

Gunay, who arrived in Tehran on Saturday for a four-day official visit, said that Iran and Turkey have common religious, historical and cultural heritage that provide both countries with huge potentials to further strengthen their ties in different fields, including tourism.

He made the remarks in Tehran Saturday, after a meeting with the Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Hamid Baqaei.

“In 2008, Iran and Turkey signed an agreement in the field of tourism, and during this visit we will review initiatives for a better implementation of the agreement,” Gunay said.

Turkey ranks seventh in the list of top ten countries that attract the highest number of tourists in the world, he added.

Last year, 27 million tourists visited Turkey among whom were about one million were Iranians.
