Премијер: Туристи треба да оду и одложе путовања на Бахаме

It’s not better in the Bahamas this weekend- visitors should not come! The Bahamas Prime Minister Hon Hubert Minnis is asking tourists booked to the Bahamas this weekend not to travel and postpone their trip for later. It’s expected most tourists will leave the island country by today, Thursday and before Hurricane Irma is scheduled to arrive.

Hurricane Irma is now on a course for the Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas as a Category 5 storm. Strangely Bahamas official issued the last update at 6.00 am on Wednesday morning.

In the meantime, Bahamas authority confirmed there are no tourists in areas with a Hurricane warning at this time. All hotels will implement hurricane procedure on Thursday to prepare for the arrival of Irma.

Hurricane warnings have been issued for portions of the Greater Antilles and the Bahamas.

The Bahamas  Islands in the Central Bahamas are placed under a Hurricane Warning and are expected to feel hurricane conditions within 24 hours as the country braces.

Those islands are Long Island, Cat Island, Rum Cay, San Salvador and The Exumas, where residents are being urged to complete final preparations ahead of the storm.

Meanwhile, The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, continues to evacuate residents out of the Southeast Bahamas namely Inagua, Mayaguana, Crooked Island, Acklins, Ragged Island, Long Cay, Samana Cay. It would be the largest evacuation exercise undertaken during a disaster.

Prime Minister Dr the Hon Hubert Minnis, Prime Minister delivered a strong message of the need to evacuate – voluntary or NEMA assisted.

 

Residents should rush to complete last details of preparation as the storm has reached Category 5 status.
